Eli Bordman

Eli is a litigator known for his client-focused approach and experience across every level of court in Ontario. He maintains a broad litigation practice with a focus on professional negligence, commercial disputes, construction and municipal law, and brings thoughtful advocacy to matters of all sizes and complexity.

Eli began his career at Gardiner Roberts as a summer student in 2019, completed his articles with the firm, and returned as an associate in 2021. His experience ranges from managing procedural motions to working on multi-billion-dollar class actions, giving him a well-rounded perspective and a steady approach to complex disputes.

• Represented the plaintiff/defendant by counterclaim in a complex oppression remedy trial Vastis v. Kommatas, 2022 ONSC 1366

• Obtained a finding of no liability for a residential real estate solicitor after a three-day Small Claims Court trial – Korlyakov v Riesz, SC-22-8791-00
• Successfully defended a dismissal of a solicitor negligence action at the Court of Appeal – Vinczer v. 7084421 Canada Ltd., 2022 ONCA 400

Class Actions

• Represented a mining company and settled a common issues trial brought under the Securities Act – Rahimi v. SouthGobi Resources Ltd., 2025 ONSC 5752

Municipal and Land Use Planning

• Acts as a prosecutor in Provincial Offences Court and counsel at the Ontario Land Tribunal for various Conservation Authorities under the Conservation Authorities Act
