Executive Summary

As a partner in the Tax and Estate Planning Group, Nadia practises in the areas of estate planning and estate administration. She regularly works with professionals, business owners, blended families, and others to prepare their estate plans, which may include business succession planning, cross-border estate planning, cottage succession planning, planning for beneficiaries with special needs, and charitable giving. 

Nadia also advises executors, trustees, and attorneys for property and personal care on their duties and obligations when administering estates, from the initial steps taken, through probate, to the distribution of assets.

Having earned the internationally recognized TEP designation from the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP), Nadia is frequently invited to present at community events and for members of professional organizations to provide valuation information on estate planning and administration. 

Expertise

Representative Work
  • Prepared the estate plan for a high net worth blended family with ongoing business activities, which included business succession planning, a spousal trust and trusts for beneficiaries with various needs.
  • Assisted a business owner with the preparation of an estate plan that balanced sensitive family dynamics among children, some of whom were heavily involved in the family business.
  • Acted on behalf of an Estate Trustee in the administration of an estate with complex legal issues by negotiating with third parties to successfully avoid protracted court proceedings and manage costs to the estate.
  • Advised an Attorney for Property in managing the property of an incapable person where many assets were held jointly with a third party whose interests conflicted with those of the incapable person.
