Executive Summary
John has been with Gardiner Roberts since 1992 where he practices in the areas of real estate and corporate commercial law and is also a member of the firm’s Executive Committee. John has developed specialties in the retirement home and long-term care sectors, as well as structuring and implementing private equity vehicles for real estate investment. John’s work also keeps him active with transactional and financing matters for clients in a number of sectors.
Over the past several years, John has delivered advice to clients and acted on transactions in a broad range of areas including mergers, acquisitions, divestments, and associated financings; secured financings, acting on behalf of both lenders and borrowers; specialized financing-including structuring overseas-based sharia compliant financings; the development, operation and purchase and sale of retirement homes and long-term care facilities; various other multi-residential transactions; negotiation and structuring of co-ownership and joint-venture projects; representing parties in partnership and shareholder disputes; representing start-up companies seeking and securing venture capital financing; and advising clients on green energy initiatives.
John is the proud father of two children. He is also a voracious reader of history and science fiction and he tempers (perhaps unsuccessfully) that nerdiness with an avid love of the NFL.
